Some children live by themselves without any adults. This is a "child headed home". They are very vulnerable as they have no income and have to rely on the community for any help. However, the community itself is very poor. Some orphans will live with aunts or uncles - but many have lost these through AIDs. Some orphans will live with grand parents, but this is proving an unbearable burden. What do grandparents do when they have several orphaned grand children to support?
Some of the orphans have no where to live!MusaweNkosi seeks to build places for orphans to live within the community. It does not seek to build orphanages, but houses with house parents in the local communities. In this way, MusaweNkosi aims to leave the children with their cultural identity and not to raise them in an institution. They will have neighbors and go to school with the neighbors children. The cost of each house is £15,000. This provides a home for between 10 and 12 children.
