The Government has a grant for all foster carers - but few receive it.

Why?

There is no central list of all orphans.  To receive this entitlement, papers have to be gathered (birth and death records etc.).  Then a social worker has to do a needs assessment and home visit and then make an application to the local court with these details.

At the moment this is just not being done.  MusaweNkosi seeks to given help to the orphans and their carers to see that this is done for them.

MusaweNkosi has now employed a local person (Bongani Mathenjwa) to help those identified on MusaweNkosi's Orphan Identification Project to collect the necessary paperwork and present them to the social workers for the court.

However, the process all takes time and in the mean time the orphans are in need of help.  MusaweNkosi is helping those in need through this time by providing food, money and school supplies.  See other projects for more details.
